Nose Surgery for a Beautiful Nose,
Every year many people around the world are interested in improving the appearance and/or function of their noses through Rhinoplasty or nose surgery. As the nose is the most defining characteristic of the face, a slight alteration can greatly improve one’s appearance. The size and the shape of the nose have a great impact on how a person looks. Therefore, Rhinoplasty can improve your looks, self-confidence, and your breathing if scheduled with a highly qualified plastic surgeon.
The ideal nose varies from face to face depending on skin type, ethnic background, age, and other variables. The goal in Rhinoplasty is to improve the nose aesthetically and to make it harmonize better with other facial features with a good and normal function.
In order to enhance the effects of nose surgery, there may be additional facial procedures needed. For example, many patients require chin augmentation in conjunction with Rhinoplasty to create a better balance of their facial features.
During your initial consultation, I will examine the structure of your nose, both externally and internally. I will take photographs of your face and nose, then will discuss your concerns and your expectations. Thereafter, I will explain the probable outcome of your procedure in detail. I will also explain as to whether any additional facial procedures are needed (i.e. chin implant) to enhance the effects of your Rhinoplasty.
I usually complete the procedure in an hour or two, although complicated procedures may take longer. In about 99% of my operations all incisions are made inside the nose, where they are invisible (Endonasal Approach ). During the procedure, certain amount of underlying bone and cartilage are removed, added or rearranged to provide a newly shaped structure. I will correct all of the anatomical abnormalities inside your nose that may interfere with your normal breathing, so at the end of surgery you will have a beautiful and well-functioning nose (Functional Rhinoplasty). After surgery, your nose will be beautiful and in harmony with other structures of your face, which will appear natural and not a surgical-operating nose.
Except in some difficult cases, you do not need hospitalization after Septorhinoplasty operation; you can go home in a very good condition some hours after the surgery. There is no need to take pain medications because you do not experience any pains after the surgery. The incidence and the amount of ecchymosis (dark discoloration around the eye) are very minimal .As I do not place any dressing inside your nose after the operation so you can breathe through your nose just after your surgery.
Immediately after the surgery, a small plastic splint is placed on your nose and there will be no tapes adhered to your face area. The splint is used to protect the nose and to keep the structure stable for one week. During that period, you are in a very good condition and there is no need to rest at home; you can walk, drive, eat, drink, and do all your life routines just some hours after the surgery.
I will meet with you one week after the surgery to remove the splint and in order to show you how to place the tape on your nose, which is required of you to do for few weeks.
