Droopy eyelids can make you look older and can also impair your vision. Eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty can correct sagging eyelids and remove excess skin and other tissues from the eyelids. Blepharoplasty will help you to restore a more energetic and youthful appearance to improve your looks.
As with all other facial plastic surgery procedures, good health and realistic expectations are very important. During your first visit, I will thoroughly examine your eyelids and we will discuss the problems you may be experiencing, your expectations, and the probable outcome of your treatment. Afterwards, I will take photographs of your face and eyelids to discuss any further concerns about your treatment.
In Blepharoplasty procedure, I remove the excess fat, muscle and skin from your eyelids to create a rejuvenated appearance with a younger and firmer eye area. This procedure can be performed under general anesthesia, whereas I usually prefer a local anesthesia. If the upper eyelids need corrections, I place fine incisions in the crease above the eyes, where I close the incisions with very fine sutures. The procedure can take about an hour depending on the nature of the treatment. After the surgery, neither any pain medication is needed since my patients generally do not experience pains, and nor any hospitalization is required. I do not apply any dressing over the eyes so your vision is not affected and you are able to see just as good as prior to the surgery. Some hours after the procedure, you can go home or return to work in a very good condition.
In approximately a week after the procedure, I will meet with you to remove your sutures. Since your incisions were placed in the upper eyelids’ natural crease, your scars are not apparent. The amount of swelling and ecchymosis (dark discoloration around the eyes) are very minimal and in about 10 days post-surgery, you are able to apply cosmetics around your eyes. After the surgery, you are going to have a softer and more beautiful looking face, though you may need both Blepharoplasty and Rhinoplasty procedures, which they can be performed at the same time in a single stage.
